Product Review: Iron Bull Strength Wrist Wraps

Wearing wrist wraps for weight training

Pair of wrist wraps for weight trainingWelcome back Warriors! Today I’m coming at you with another product review, of an item that I now like to use while I’m in the gym. When I was in the early stages of my bodybuilding, my fitness level wasn’t ready for this item. However, after putting a lot more muscle and gaining more gym experience, I felt I was ready.

The item I’m talking about is the Wrist Wraps for strength training by Iron Bull Strength. I purchased them on Amazon back in September of this year.

What Are They Made Of?

The wrist wraps are 20 inches in length and 3 inches in width, according to the item description. They have a thumb loop which you put your thumb into. To put them on, your thumb goes in the thumb loop. Then you wrap the wrap around your wrist and secure the velcro strap. The n repeat for your other wrist.

I will admit, the thumb loop is something that I’m still trying to get used to. It really is something that you’ll have to wear around for a while to break it in. You’ll get used to it eventually.

Wearing wrist wraps for weight trainingHow Do They Hold Up?

After putting these wrist wraps to the test over the past month, I would say the performance is really really good. My wrists feel much more secure when I’m doing my lifts, especially if I’m lifting medium to heavy weight. Before, I would wear gloves when I lift, because I didn’t want to get blisters on my hands from gripping the rough metal of the weights.

It turned out my palms weren’t as sensitive to the metal as I thought. So that is one reason why I graduated from gloves and upgraded to wrist wraps. That and my gloves were starting to show wear and tear. They started getting holes in them. That was another sign that pointed me toward my chance to score an upgrade.

How Much?

The price you will be paying for the Iron Bull Strength Wrist Wraps is $16.95. However, at the time, I was able to get them for about $5 because I had enough Amazon points to get them cheaper. After using them for a little over a month, I would say you would get bang for your buck with them.

What Are They For?

In the world of bodybuilding, wrist wraps are designed to keep your wrists flat while lifting weights, especially if you’re doing chest. When you’re on the bench and pressing the bar, you want to make sure your wrists are flat and still so that you don’t screw up your technique and that you don’t accidentally injure yourself.

So in short, they’re not for show. They have a purpose, and they serve that purpose well.

Pros And Cons

  • PROS: Helps to keep the wrist more secure while lifting, so you won’t have to worry about accidentally twisting or spraining your wrist, or bending it in a  direction it’s not supposed to go.
  • CONS: The thumb loop does have to be adjusted from time to time, because it presses against your thumb pretty good. That will take some getting used to, so be patient with them.

Why Did I Choose This Product?

I’ve seen a lot of guys who work out wear wrist wraps while they’re lifting. I didn’t understand why at first, but I did my own research and found out why wrist wraps are a thing. They’re designed to secure your wrists so that you don’t accidentally twist them the wrong way while you’re lifting. It’s all in the name of reducing the risk of injury.

Another reason why I chose this product is because I used to have weightlifting gloves, but they started to show signs of wear and tear. They were getting holes in them, parts were coming loose over time, and I felt it was time for an upgrade. That and I feel that I have built my fitness level up to where I’m “eligible” to use wrist wraps now.

Do I Recommend This Product to You?

I would absolutely recommend this product if you’re a gym rat like me. However, keep this in mind. I only recommend this product if your fitness level is intermediate or higher. If you’re a beginner to weight training and try to use wrist wraps, you might come across as a poser. So basically, you have to earn your way to being eligible to use such a product. Savvy?

If you are an intermediate or advanced lifter like me, then this product is for you. Personally, when I’m doing bicep curls or bench press, or anything that involves moving my arms, my wrists feel much more secure and less likely to get hurt.

Where Can I Get It?

You can find the Iron Bull Strength Weight Training Wrist Wraps on Amazon, here: Wrist Wraps (18″ Premium Quality) for Powerlifting, Bodybuilding, Weight Lifting – Wrist Support Braces for Weight Strength Training

They can also be found at the official Iron Bull Strength website, here: Classic Wrist Wraps

The deal on the official website looks to be the better deal. However, with the magic of Amazon points, you can get anything you want for less money! So I’d say it really depends on what approach you take. Either way, I think you can’t go wrong with either deal. It’s the same product, after all!

Closing Words

I hope I gave you a good suggestion on what you could use while training in the gym! Just remember what I said, you might come across as a poser if you’re donning wrist wraps at the beginner level. If you’re at the intermediate or the advanced level like me, wrist wraps are kind of an essential.

Do you have any product suggestions for me? Is there something out there that you think is good for weight training? Put it in the comments below! I’m always open to suggestions!
