Welcome back Warriors! Today I’ll be giving you a product review on the boxing gloves that I use for my boxing training regime.

The boxing gloves that I am currently using for my boxing endeavors are the Elite Prostyle Training Gloves from Everlast. I briefly mentioned them in a previous post I wrote here, but today we’re going to take a more detailed look at them and give you a review of the product.

I first got the gloves earlier this year (2021) at my local Academy. They are currently not visible on the official website, but Academy is where I got them. You can also find them here on Amazon: Everlast Elite Pro Style Training Gloves, Black, 16 oz. The 16 oz size is the size I wear with boxing gloves. I have them in an all-black color, because I personally like the way all black looks. In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with an all-black or an all-white. Even an all-grey. Those 3 colors go with anything.

Here’s everything I’m going to discuss in today’s product review:

The gloves themselves look really nice. I like how they have the word Everlast on the upper padded part of the glove, where the knuckle is. The gloves are made of leather, like most boxing gloves are. They have mesh ventilation panels on the inside, which according to the packaging description, is designed to power through any kind of odors.

Also on the inside of the gloves is an inscription that says, “Greatness is Within.” I really like that part. The gloves come with Velcro straps, so you can adjust the fit if you need to. I don’t know how they compare to gloves with laces yet, but I cannot imagine having to work the laces of one glove after I put the other glove on my hand.

According to the description on the packaging, the gloves come with closed cell foam technology, which will help keep your hands snug and protected so that you don’t injure your hands. You’ll also be wearing hand wraps underneath for additional protection. The gloves also come with a grip cord inside the gloves so that you can wrap your fingers around. The function of the grip cord is to increase your grip strength and increase your punching power.

Another design feature I like is on the inside of the thumb, there is a yellow part. Yellow is one of my personal favorite colors.

At the bottom of the gloves, around the wrists, there is padding which according to Everlast, is called EverShield technology. It is designed to provide additional protection for your wrist so that you do not sprain your wrist while you’re punching.

Performance

To add on to the aesthetics of the gloves, they do perform really well when training on the heavy bag. I feel I am able to land powerful punches without having to worry about injuries to my hands (the hand wraps underneath help too.)

With the EverShield technology protecting my wrist as well as the hand wraps, injuries to my wrist are no concern of mine. One time, I was punching on a heavy bag with my bare hands, and my hand bent backward as I made contact with the bag. I could hear and feel bones cracking in my hand, to the point where I had to wear a brace around my hand. Luckily I suffered no broken bones and it turned out to be nothing more than a sprained wrist. Ever since, I made sure to pick out boxing gloves with good protection around the wrist.

The ventilation panels on the inside part of the glove have worked really well with keeping the gloves from smelling bad after a one-hour workout. The grip cord on the inside helps me maintain a good grip as I punch.

When I put the gloves on, I do them one of two ways. I either just slide them on, or I slide on one and I velcro the strap on the other one with my teeth, since I can’t use my fingers. Since the gloves are training gloves, that means they are for multi-purpose use. You can use them on the bag, with punch mitts, and you can use them for sparring.

Value

When I first bought the gloves at Academy, they were about $45. On Amazon, they currently go for about $37. Amazon would tend to raise and lower the price of the item as time would go on. Some days it would be in the 40s, and other days it would be in the 30s.

I would say it’s a little pricey, but by the same token, sometimes getting a product that costs more will last longer. Therefore, its value will be increased. You get what you pay for, right?

Would I Recommend this Product?

My answer is yes, I would absolutely recommend this product to you. If you’re new to boxing and need a pair of gloves that you can use for multiple purposes, these are the gloves for you.

Beware, because the price is a little high, you might want to save up if you want to get a pair. That and you’ll have to figure out how to work it into your budget.

Where can I Get It?

The gloves are available at Amazon, the official Everlast website, and at your local Academy Sports & Outdoors.

Closing Words

As of today, my boxing gloves are holding up well. And I plan on buying more in the foreseeable future. There are some nice boxing gloves from other major boxing brands, like Title Boxing, Hayabusa, Fight Camp, Venum, Everlast, and others. When I do get my hands on other boxing gloves from other brands, I’ll write more product reviews on them for my website, so stay tuned for those!

So if you’re ready to start a new boxing adventure, grab a pair of boxing gloves and join me as we GO INTO BATTLE!
